The EmpowerED Adult Eating Disorders Lead Provider Collaborative, hosted their first Transformation Event of the year on Wednesday 3 June 2026, bringing together experts by experience, clinicians and commissioners to discuss outcome measures within eating disorder services to ensure consistency of care across the Northwest.

The event featured contributions from Tim Welch, Chief Executive of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Matthew Cahill, Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director of Eating Disorder Services, and members of the EmpowerED expert by experience forum, as well as practitioners and commissioners from across the Northwest.

Key sessions explored:

  • Summaries of outcomes collections across the northwest

  • Discussions on how to implement shared learning of outcome measures across the region

Speakers highlighted how outcome measures allow for patients to feel empowered in shaping their recovery plan by ensuring their personal goals are heard.

Discussions highlighted the usefulness of collecting the same agreed outcome measures across the care pathway in the North West for shared learning and identifying evidence-based interventions along the treatment pathway which best support the improvement of patient outcomes.

Interactive workshops enabled participants to input ideas about creating a forum which would be used for clinicians to share their community’s outcome measures in support of continuous improvement in services. Colleagues from EmpowerED have taken the ideas from the session to develop a resolution in the near future.

The event closed with Tim Welch thanking EmpowerED’s continual commitment in championing evidence-based improvement, focusing on insight from Experts by Experience, with system wide collaboration to deliver high quality care across the Eating Disorder pathway.

EmpowerED continues to shape innovate approach to delivering person-centred care that reflets the voices of people with lived experience across the North West.
