MANTRA (The Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment in Adults) is a therapy which has been tailored to target specific factors which maintain Anorexia Nervosa. It is based on the theory that anorexia is often underpinned by particular traits, such as having a rigid and inflexible thinking style and an avoidant style of emotional coping.

It seems that these traits become amplified by anorexia, and once anorexia develops, positive beliefs about how it is helping, can further maintain the problem. It is also recognised that patterns in interpersonal relationships can serve to maintain some of the vicious cycles if anorexia.

MANTRA aims to address these target areas, in order to help individuals to recover from anorexia nervosa.
